The AstroMicrogrid Debris Encapsulator (AMDE)

In 2023 we introduced the AstroMicrogrid Debris Encapsulator (AMDE), a ground-breaking system currently in development, designed to tackle the escalating issue of space debris.

Revolutionary Design with Kirigami Silicon Sheets

Dynamic Deployment: Our space tug, equipped with cutting-edge technology, deploys Kirigami-cut silicon sheets. These sheets are expertly crafted to unfold into domes under pressure, making them adaptable for various sizes of space debris.

Efficient Storage and Capacity: Storing these domes as compact sheets allows our space tug to carry a vast array of sizes, ready to address a wide range of debris challenges.

Materials: Our initial prototypes utilize silicone rubber with a PTFE coating.

Safe and Versatile Debris Encapsulation

Clamshell Encapsulation: The AMDE system is devised to securely enclose space debris, minimizing the risk of fragmentation.

Safe Disposal Options: Once contained, the debris can be moved to a disposal orbit or equipped with a thruster for controlled re-entry and disintegration in Earth's atmosphere.
